Job Title: Quality Engineering Specialist (OCTG / Tubular SME)
Location: Doha, Qatar (Onshore)
Contract Type: MFA Contract (2 Years)
Schedule: 6 days per week, 8–10 hours per day

Position Summary

  • Subject Matter Expert responsible for OCTG, premium connections, and tubular engineering quality
  • Provide technical leadership across casing and tubing design, manufacturing oversight, and quality assurance
  • Support well engineering teams to ensure safe, compliant, and optimised tubular performance
  • Act as key interface between engineering, QA/QC, procurement, and manufacturing vendors

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and qualify premium threaded connections in line with API and ISO standards
  • Interpret connection testing data and recommend suitable solutions for well conditions
  • Perform casing and tubing string design, including stress analysis and performance evaluation
  • Ensure designs meet well integrity and operational requirements across all load conditions
  • Develop and implement tubular inspection and quality control plans
  • Oversee inspection activities including NDT, dimensional checks, and hydrotesting
  • Review and approve material compliance, including MTCs and manufacturing records
  • Conduct mill audits and qualification of OCTG manufacturers
  • Assess manufacturing processes including heat treatment, threading, and metallurgical controls
  • Support well engineering teams with OCTG selection and design validation
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical evaluations
  • Investigate and resolve tubular performance issues during operations
  • Review deviations and provide technical disposition in line with standards and safety requirements
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, specifications, and company requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in OCTG design, manufacturing, and application
  • Strong expertise in premium connections and tubular engineering
  • Proven experience in casing and tubing design and performance evaluation
  • Deep knowledge of API and ISO standards related to OCTG
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and material properties
  • Experience in mill qualification, audits, and manufacturing oversight
  • Ability to review technical documentation, test certificates, and inspection reports
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Technical Competencies

  • Expertise in OCTG design, stress analysis, and load case evaluation
  • Familiarity with casing and tubing design tools and inspection practices
  • Strong knowledge of tubular QA/QC processes and manufacturing controls
  • Experience with deviation management and compliance verification
  • Understanding of material traceability, marking, and preservation requirements

Soft Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Capability to mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer

Additional Information

  • Onshore role based in Doha, Qatar
  • 2-year contract under MFA terms
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Qatar
  • Experience in offshore, sour service, or HPHT environments is advantageous
