Power Project Manager (Transmission / Substations)

Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Power Project Manager to support the delivery of utility-scale transmission and substation projects. This role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring successful execution across design and construction phases.

The position is well suited to a professional with strong experience in power infrastructure delivery, particularly within regulated utility environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple power transmission and substation projects from planning through execution
  • Coordinate engineering, design, and construction activities across project teams
  • Review and interpret scopes of work, schedules, and technical documentation
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with cost, schedule, safety, and quality requirements
  • Interface with clients, contractors, engineers, and internal stakeholders
  • Provide clear and timely project updates and reporting
  • Support decision-making across engineering and construction phases
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required
  • Apply strong organisational and planning discipline across all active projects
  • Support stakeholder engagement including site visits to substations and right-of-way locations

Requirements

  • 8 to 16 years of experience in the power industry
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience managing engineering or construction projects
  • Experience in transmission and/or substation design and construction
  • HVDC experience highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of utility project delivery environments
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively
  • Strong interpretation skills for technical documents, scopes, and schedules
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Ability to engage and coordinate with multiple stakeholders at a professional level
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and scheduling tools
  • Understanding of corporate finance and basic project accounting principles
  • Willingness to attend site meetings at substations and right-of-way locations
  • Must be based in or near Richmond, Virginia
  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications (up to and beyond $160K depending on background)
  • Exposure to utility-scale transmission infrastructure programmes
