Procurement/Material Specialist

Location: Ras Laffan, Qatar
Assignment Type: Residential / Onshore
Contract Duration: 2 Years (Extendable)
Working Schedule: 5 Days per Week, 8–10 Hours per Day
Leave Rotation: 30 Days Annual Leave (Unpaid)

Overview
A major oil and gas project is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support procurement and materials management activities across multiple brownfield and shutdown projects in Qatar.

The role will focus on long lead procurement, materials coordination, SAP materials management, vendor management, and project supply chain support within a large-scale operational and project environment.

This position is suited to candidates with strong oil and gas project procurement experience, excellent SAP MM knowledge, and proven capability managing critical materials and vendor coordination activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide procurement and materials management support for ongoing oil and gas projects, including shutdown activities
  • Support development of project procurement strategies during early project phases
  • Coordinate budgetary quotations and delivery schedules for long lead and critical equipment
  • Review and support contractor procurement and materials management procedures
  • Supervise SAP BOM update activities and project close-out material documentation
  • Track and monitor project materials to ensure timely delivery to site
  • Coordinate with procurement, QA/QC, warehouse, logistics, and contractors regarding material inspections and deliveries
  • Manage surplus material inventories and project-related material control activities
  • Support procurement of long lead equipment and package items through central purchasing functions
  • Review project material reconciliation reports and support inventory optimisation activities
  • Maintain and update approved vendor and supplier databases
  • Support vendor pre-qualification and vendor performance management activities
  • Supervise and guide materials coordinators and support personnel
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and procurement status updates for project teams and management

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within oil and gas procurement and materials management
  • Strong experience managing long lead equipment, package items, and critical project materials
  • Experience supporting brownfield and shutdown project environments
  • Strong knowledge of SAP MM and procurement systems
  • Experience with materials management processes including BOM updates, spare parts management, and tag management systems
  • Experience with procurement, expediting, logistics coordination, and inventory control
  • Strong understanding of vendor pre-qualification and vendor management processes
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of supply chain risk management
  • Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within LNG or large-scale oil and gas operating companies
  • Relevant certification in materials management or supply chain management
  • GCC project experience preferred
  • Experience leading or mentoring procurement and materials teams
