Head of Engineering (Mechanical)
Location: Doha, Qatar
Contract Duration: 36 Months
Rotation: 12 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off
Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support major LNG and oil and gas projects in Qatar. The role involves providing engineering support across design, construction, and project execution activities within a large-scale industrial environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of mechanical engineering scopes while ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical engineering support across project design, execution, construction, and commissioning activities
- Review engineering deliverables, technical specifications, and contractor submissions for compliance with project requirements
- Support multidisciplinary engineering coordination across project teams and contractors
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, industry codes, safety requirements, and company procedures
- Provide technical guidance and support during construction and commissioning phases
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and operations teams to resolve technical issues and support project execution
- Participate in design reviews, technical evaluations, and engineering workshops
- Support project planning, progress monitoring, and issue resolution activities
- Assist with mechanical equipment installation, testing, and handover activities where required
- Contribute to safe project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience
- At least 6 years of experience within the oil and gas industry
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory, team leadership, or contractor oversight experience
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, specifications, and codes related to oil and gas facilities
- Experience supporting engineering execution within major industrial projects
- Good understanding of onshore LNG facilities and utility systems
- Strong coordination and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience on major LNG projects
- GCC or Middle East project experience
- Exposure to EPC project environments, construction, and commissioning support
- Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, and vendor management activities
