Position Summary
A leading energy project organization is seeking a Buyer / Senior Buyer to support procurement activities across complex energy projects. This role is responsible for the end-to-end purchasing process, ensuring materials and services are sourced competitively, delivered on time, and in compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, project management, expediting, and logistics teams, as well as external vendors, to ensure efficient procurement execution across offshore and onshore projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute procurement activities from requisition through to purchase order award and delivery
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value in terms of cost, quality, and delivery
- Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs, conduct bid evaluations (commercial and technical), and recommend awards
- Ensure alignment with project schedules, technical requirements, and budget constraints
- Draft and administer purchase orders and subcontracts in accordance with company procedures
- Coordinate closely with expediting and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
- Manage supplier relationships and monitor vendor performance
- Identify procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and company procurement policies
- Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting
Additional Responsibilities (Senior Buyer):
- Lead procurement activities for critical or high-value packages
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project execution plans
- Manage complex negotiations and commercial terms with key suppliers
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers within the team
- Interface with senior stakeholders, including project managers and package leads
- Support contract management, variations, and claims where required
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline (preferred)
- Buyer: 5+ years of procurement experience within Oil & Gas, Energy, or EPC projects
- Senior Buyer: 8-10+ years of relevant experience, including responsibility for major packages
- Proven experience in offshore Oil & Gas projects within EPC or EPIC environments
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract terms, and supplier management
- Experience working with international vendors and complex supply chains
Preferred (Not Essential):
- Exposure to offshore Transportation & Installation (T&I) scopes and associated procurement packages
- Experience with major equipment packages (e.g., rotating equipment, subsea, structural, or E&I systems)
- Familiarity with heavy lift, marine logistics, and offshore installation considerations
