Area Construction Manager
Contract Type: Annually Renewable Contract Position
Working Location: Boden, Sweden
Work Schedule: Monday Friday (10 hours per day)
About the Role
You will work with a pioneering green steel production company that is constructing a plant in northern Sweden to produce green steel. Green steel production emits up to 95 percent less CO2 compared with conventional steel production.
As Area Construction Manager, your main responsibility is to oversee the successful completion of all construction management activities and deliverables within the approved safety, schedule, cost, and quality criteria for the water treatment plant. This includes responsibility for detailed daily and weekly construction work planning and execution of activities necessary to successfully construct the project scope of facilities according to approved success metrics and best-practice construction project management principles.
In addition to managing the construction for this area, you will also contribute to the development of the clients ability to construct projects in a way that competes on a global scale. You will be seen as an expert in project construction management within your area and will develop your cross-functional team accordingly.
To optimize the site construction effort, you will work in a matrix structure in close cooperation with the rest of the clients site execution, project management, project controls, and engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all construction management activities and deliverables for the water treatment plant area.
- Plan and execute detailed daily and weekly construction work.
- Ensure compliance with safety, schedule, cost, and quality criteria.
- Apply best-practice construction project management principles to meet agreed success metrics.
- Lead and develop a cross-functional team within a matrix organization.
- Collaborate closely with site execution, project management, project controls, and engineering functions.
- Contribute to building the clients capability to execute projects competitively on a global scale.
Qualifications
- Extensive industry experience as a construction manager within your area, with strong hands-on project leadership experience in demanding industrial environments (for example, steel, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining).
- Fluency in English.
- Experience working on an owners team is a plus.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is a plus.
