Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced UFR Contract Engineer to support a major offshore development project. This role will be responsible for managing all contractual activities related to the Umbilicals, Flowlines, and Risers (UFR) package, ensuring that procurement, tendering, and contract execution align with project requirements and best industry practices.

The position requires a strong understanding of contractual, commercial, and procurement processes, as well as close coordination with technical specialists, legal teams, and project control functions to manage all contractual aspects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Preparation & Tendering:

  • Develop and manage the contracting strategy for the UFR package, ensuring compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare tendering documentation, including general and specific contract specifications and commercial exhibits.
  • Manage the full tendering process, including issuing Call for Tenders, handling clarifications, leading negotiations, evaluating bids, and preparing recommendations for contract awards.
  • Coordinate the finalisation of contractual, commercial, and technical documentation for contract execution.
  • Ensure all contracts are properly registered in company systems (e.g., ERP and contract databases).

Contract Execution & Administration:

  • Oversee the contractual and commercial management of awarded contracts, working closely with technical leads and project control teams to ensure proper contract execution.
  • Manage contract variations and Change Order processes, ensuring adherence to approval procedures and delegation of authority.
  • Coordinate and validate contractor progress reports, milestone payment certificates, and invoices in collaboration with project teams.
  • Participate in contractor meetings, handling contractual discussions and dispute resolution in coordination with legal, finance, and insurance teams.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of all contractual matters and monitor key contractual milestones.
  • Implement and manage a Change Order register for easy reference by the project team.

Budgeting & Reporting:

  • Support the budget and cost control team in developing and updating the project budget based on actual expenditure, planned budgets, and potential changes.
  • Provide timely reports to project management, highlighting any areas of concern in contract execution.
  • Ensure all contract close-out activities are conducted in accordance with project procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding contractual and commercial documentation.

Context & Environment

This role is part of a major offshore development project, involving deepwater and shallow-water fields. The project presents complex challenges, including reservoir management, FPSO integration, and subsea infrastructure development. The focus is on optimising economic results, reducing costs, and minimising environmental impact, while maintaining high HSE standards.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • 15+ years of experience in contract writing, negotiation, and management within the oil & gas industry.
  • 10+ years of experience in contract management for major projects.
  • Strong knowledge of contracting processes, procurement procedures, and commercial law within large-scale offshore projects.
  • Fluent in English and French (spoken and written).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
