Job Title: Senior Wastewater Process Engineer

Overview
We are seeking an experienced, process-focused engineer to join a consultancy team specialising in performance improvement projects across water treatment networks in the UK.
This leadership role offers hands-on involvement in supporting clients to optimise site operations, reduce compliance risks, and deliver low-impact infrastructure solutions using both conventional and digital approaches. You will work within a small, flexible team focused on driving sustainable improvements in water treatment systems.
Key Responsibilities

Lead multidisciplinary teams through early-stage design and system improvement studies

Manage cost, schedule, and technical quality for assigned project packages

Provide expert advice to clients, joint ventures, and internal stakeholders on complex wastewater treatment challenges

Develop technical strategies to minimise site risk and enhance regulatory compliance

Contribute to proposal writing and framework bids to support business growth

Review and approve key deliverables including process models, reports, and technical summaries

Support knowledge sharing and capability building across the optimisation team
Essential Experience and Skills

Practical, hands-on experience in operating, designing, or optimising municipal wastewater treatment systems

Understanding of the lifecycle of utility assets from planning through operations

Proven track record managing and delivering water industry design or consulting projects

Ability to work independently while providing leadership to technical teams

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and coordination skills
- Valid UK driving licence required
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Familiarity with sector-specific regulations or industry frameworks related to wastewater

Experience across all delivery phases from scoping through to handover

Competence in producing technical documentation such as control narratives, process schematics, and mass balance calculations

Chartered status with recognised institutions such as CIWEM or IChemE

Advanced degree or specialist training in a related field
