Process Safety Engineer – Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Process Safety Engineer to provide expert support across multiple industrial sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enhancing operational safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide process safety expertise to all UK & Ireland sites.

  • Advise on hazard identification, risk assessment, and major accident prevention.

  • Support the management of safety-critical elements (SCEs).

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., COMAH, DSEAR) and industry standards.

  • Lead and facilitate hazard studies, risk assessments, and process safety reviews.

  • Support emergency preparedness planning and incident investigation.

  • Drive continuous improvement in process safety culture and leadership.

  • Assist with change management processes, ensuring safe and compliant implementation.

  • Conduct audits, management reviews, and assurance activities.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement safety improvements.

  • Interpret and apply PFDs, P&IDs, and other process safety documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in process safety within a regulated industry (COMAH preferred).

  • Chartered Engineer (IChemE or equivalent) or actively working towards chartership.

  • Experience in COMAH report submission and regulatory engagement.

  • Strong understanding of process plant technology and unit operations.

  • Proven ability to lead technical discussions and facilitate safety reviews.

  • Skilled in project management, change management, and risk analysis.

  • Strong auditing and compliance experience.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
