Senior Mechanical Engineer - Building Services

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical systems across a variety of building projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a leadership position, is technically adept, and enjoys translating client requirements into fully coordinated system designs.
You'll be responsible for managing project execution across several sites, setting the strategic approach for system design, and ensuring engineering excellence from concept through completion. This includes team leadership, quality assurance, technical mentoring, and acting as Engineer of Record.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering scope across multiple building projects.
- Translate client needs into technically and environmentally sound system designs.
- Set design standards, criteria, and specifications.
- Review system options and building performance analyses.
- Coordinate with architectural and engineering disciplines to ensure integration and constructability.
- Supervise construction administration including field reports, RFIs, addenda, and bulletins.
- Oversee team communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Support technical mentorship and training within the business unit.
- Contribute to the Technical Leadership Committee and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide performance evaluations and support professional development of junior staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in a consulting or design firm.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence required.
- Strong project leadership and multi-disciplinary coordination skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Familiarity with LEED accreditation (LEED AP highly preferred).
- Experience with complex building types including commercial, mixed-use, life sciences, and mission-critical environments is a major plus.
