Qualification

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering with experience in quality control within multi-discipline construction environments.

Preferably formal training in QC/QMS and membership in a recognized professional institution or chartered body.
Experience
-
Minimum 10 years’ experience in QA/QC roles; GCC experience is desirable.

At least 5 years’ experience directly related to inspection/execution of construction activities, preferably as a client-side QA/QC inspector.

Sound working knowledge of QC aspects, testing requirements, and procedures related to civil/structural construction and infrastructure projects.

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment.

Knowledge of construction techniques including soil mechanics, foundations, retaining walls, structural steel, masonry, building interiors, finishes, roof systems, asphalt, and roadworks.

Familiarity with international building codes and standards (IBC, QCS, ACI, AISC, ASTM, etc.).

Internationally recognized certification in auditing ISO-9001 or equivalent.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Implement quality management system elements relevant to the role.
-
Ensure personal safety and the safety of others, and proactively participate in all safety matters affecting the construction project.

Prevent environmental pollution related to project activities.
-
Coordinate inspection and test requirements for construction activities, subcontractors, and suppliers.
-
Review and understand project-specific inspection documentation to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

Implement quality inspection procedures and verify compliance with project specifications.
-
Maintain accurate inspection records, including test results, surveillance, and surveys, in accordance with project Quality Plan (PQP) and ITPs.

Review contractor/subcontractor/supplier quality documentation and reports.
-
Assist construction personnel in developing quality documentation such as method statements, work procedures, ITPs, and inspection/test records.

Identify problems, potential or actual non-conformances, and propose corrective or preventive actions.

Liaise with field supervisors and contractors to ensure civil/structural tests are planned and performed.

Monitor construction activities including concrete casting, steel fixing, anchor bolts, grouting, structural erection, soil excavation & backfill, blockwork, plastering, and material receiving.

Witness site and laboratory tests related to civil, structural, and architectural activities.

Verify that all materials and equipment comply with specifications, including concrete, asphalt, lifting gears, and other critical construction materials.

Conduct random visual and dimensional checks on materials and verify documentation such as delivery notes, purchase orders, and material certificates.

Initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions (CARs), and surveillance records as required.

Support senior QA/QC engineers in conducting audits for contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party laboratories.

Monitor trends of non-compliance and provide feedback on contractor performance.
