Senior Project Manager, Marine Conversion (Based at Pasir Gudang)

Job Purpose:

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for strategizing, directing, and managing Marine Conversion projects to ensure they are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role will involve leading project management teams, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Additionally, the position involves managing operational profit margins and maintaining effective business relationships with key stakeholders to drive project success and payment recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Monitor and manage the project team's work allocations (in-house or third-party) to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to contractual specifications, while minimizing risks.
  • Facility Optimization: Plan and optimize the use of marine repair facilities, including docks, quays, and scaffolding services to meet operational and business targets.
  • Business Development: Cultivate relationships with clients, authorities, partners, and other stakeholders to secure new contracts, deliver quality products and services, and expedite payment recovery.
  • Schedule Management: Strategize and control ship/project movements, implementing contingency plans as necessary to meet project requirements and minimize disruptions.
  • Cost Control: Review project costs and manage any overruns to ensure expenditures remain within budget. Negotiate change orders with clients to resolve pricing and schedule issues.
  • Contract Management: Ensure that all project contracts are adhered to, negotiating changes with clients when required to minimize cost implications.
  • Payment Recovery: Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and progress payments are recovered as per contract terms.
  • Tender and Bidding: Contribute to pre-qualification tender and competitive bidding processes, providing cost estimates, project schedules, and resource availability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Review project progress and performance, recommending corrective actions to MMHE management and clients to address issues such as delays or cost overruns.
  • Problem Solving: Resolve operational issues to ensure smooth project execution according to best industry practices and customer requirements.
  • HSE Leadership: Lead HSE initiatives within the Marine Conversion projects, promoting a strong HSE culture.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to project management teams, nurturing future leaders to achieve superior project outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7-8 years of experience in managing ship conversion projects, with at least 10 years in project management.
