Process Safety Coordinator
Location: Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar
Schedule: Full-time, site-based
Contract Type: Long-term project engagement

A major industrial project is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Coordinator to join the team at a critical stage of transition—from construction through to operational readiness. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring that the Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and compliance frameworks are not only aligned with international best practices, but also embedded throughout the organisation before handover.

You’ll be working closely with senior engineering and HSE leadership to track, analyse, and improve PSM performance, while ensuring all systems and documentation are audit-ready and effectively implemented.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the transition from project construction to a PSM-covered operational facility in line with company and regulatory requirements

  • Collect, interpret, and report key process safety data and performance indicators

  • Develop and drive implementation of action plans to improve PSM performance

  • Support and participate in incident investigations and track closure of related actions

  • Lead verification of Process Safety and Management of Change (MOC) documentation

  • Create and distribute regular internal communications related to PSM (toolbox talks, safety flashes, lessons learned)

  • Assist with compliance auditing and support internal PSM programme audits

  • Engage with operational readiness processes and contribute to hazard evaluations and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR)

  • Use data visualisation and reporting tools to increase safety awareness and highlight areas for improvement

  • Manage and troubleshoot the internal Process Safety data system and document repository

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a refinery or petrochemical facility

  • Strong understanding of Process Safety and Risk Management regulations and best practices (e.g. OSHA 1910.119)

  • Proven experience in hazard and risk analysis, incident investigation, MOC, and PSM compliance audits

  • Working knowledge of document and data management platforms

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Practical skills in visual data tools such as Power BI or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies

  • Ability to perform basic process calculations and interpret plant conditions
