Process Engineer - Water / Wastewater

We are supporting leading engineering consultancies and delivery partners in the UK water sector who are expanding their Process Engineering teams for major, long-term framework projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join dynamic teams that are delivering essential infrastructure improvements focused on water quality, environmental performance, and asset resilience throughout the UK.
The Role
As a Process Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects throughout the full project lifecycle. You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams, supporting activities from early-stage optioneering to detailed design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide process engineering expertise across water and wastewater treatment projects
- Support optioneering, feasibility studies, and outline/detailed design
- Produce and review technical deliverables such as:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and process calculations
- Performance reports
- Equipment specifications
- Control philosophies
- Contribute to process optimisation for existing treatment works and infrastructure
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and ICA teams
- Promote digital engineering and modern design methodologies
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to discuss technical solutions and progress
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety, and environmental regulations
About You
- Experience within the UK water or wastewater sector
- In-depth understanding of treatment processes and plant design
- Background in engineering consultancy or capital project delivery
- Ability to contribute across multiple project phases (from FEED to detailed design and delivery support)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proactive, solutions-oriented approach
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- Working towards or holding professional membership (IChemE, CIWEM, or similar)
