Job Title: Process Designer / Draughtsperson (Engineering)

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Designer / Draughtsperson to support the development of engineering deliverables through accurate and high-quality drawings. The role involves preparing detailed layouts, plans, and calculations in line with company and industry standards, contributing to the design, construction, and improvement of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare working drawings from equipment specifications and detailed inputs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.

  • Develop layouts, plans, calculations, and bills of materials for various engineering deliverables.

  • Perform design, layout, and checking work based on supplied data and project requirements.

  • Produce detailed drawings from rough sketches involving complex calculations and engineering principles.

  • Establish and maintain project drafting standards and ensure adherence across all deliverables.

  • Provide cost-effective and practical design solutions to technical challenges.

  • Assist with bid evaluations, estimates, and preparation of specifications for equipment and processes.

  • Construct models, prototypes, or process layouts; evaluate data and prepare technical reports and recommendations.

  • Estimate quantities, materials, time, and labour required for design, testing, or installation activities.

  • Generate accurate bills of materials from final designs.

  • Support small projects as a coordinator or lead, preparing specifications and overseeing design quality.

  • Ensure all designs and drawings are technically accurate and meet quality standards.

  • Plan and manage assigned tasks efficiently, liaising with project teams and line management to meet deadlines and targets.

  • Conduct site visits and surveys, providing input to site reports and as-built documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Short-cycle tertiary education (ISCED Level 5) in an engineering discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Solid understanding of materials, methods, and design principles used within the engineering discipline.

  • Ability to interpret key engineering documents, including standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs, and line lists.

  • Demonstrated technical orientation, mechanical aptitude, and mathematical proficiency.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate conceptual designs into practical solutions.

  • Proficient in CAD/D software and other relevant design tools.

  • Experience across a variety of design procedures and drafting techniques is highly desirable.
