Job Title: Piping Designer

Qualifications:

  • A certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering is required, along with 8-10 years of hands-on experience working on both onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities.
  • At least 4-6 years of practical experience in 3D design environments, particularly using PDMS or SP3D software.
  • In-depth knowledge of E3D and SP3D software is essential.
  • Familiarity with additional design tools like AutoCAD and Microstation is necessary.
  • Experience in field engineering operations is a plus.

Role Overview and Responsibilities:

The Piping Designer will report directly to the Area Lead for operational matters and to the Design Unit Head for functional direction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing comprehensive plot plans and detailed equipment layouts.
  • Performing piping routing studies, with a focus on systems like compressors, pumps, and air-cooled exchangers.
  • Designing and optimizing pipe rack structures.
  • Demonstrating proactive teamwork, collaboration, and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Creating accurate 3D models of equipment and piping systems using SP3D / E3D, and modeling pipe supports with SP3D & MDS.
  • Routing minor lines and managing modifications and updates to existing designs.
  • Conducting essential checks such as line RDBs and clash detection to ensure integrity and efficiency.
  • Producing detailed piping drawings, including isometrics and other necessary technical documentation.
  • Extracting piping isometrics and general arrangement (GA) drawings directly from the 3D model.
  • Conducting material take-offs (MTO) for all piping components.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams, including designers and engineers, to ensure smooth project flow.
  • Reporting regularly on project progress and providing timely updates.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on vendor drawings to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
