Job Description
Position Overview:
The Mechanical Lead is responsible for overseeing all mechanical (rotating & static) and installation activities related to major offshore/onshore projects in the energy sector. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills to ensure the efficient execution of construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all mechanical activities during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality standards, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and contractors to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Review and monitor the progress of mechanical installations and ensure all tasks are carried out according to project specifications and timelines.
- Prepare and review the commissioning procedures and technical documentation.
- Lead mechanical commissioning activities onshore and offshore, ensuring they meet project requirements.
- Oversee the implementation of pre-commissioning, commissioning procedures, and verify proper completion.
- Manage mechanical spare parts, consumables, tools, and equipment.
- Participate in the preparation and review of weekly progress reports, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions.
- Monitor the completion of punch lists and ensure the closure of all outstanding issues.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure interfaces are effectively managed across the project.
Job Dimensions:
- The project involves the construction and commissioning of multiple offshore platforms and subsea pipelines.
- Key responsibilities include leading mechanical teams during the construction and commissioning phases, ensuring project milestones are achieved efficiently.
- The position is based in both China (for construction) and Doha (for offshore operations).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Associate Degree or HND/BTS level in an engineering discipline.
- Professional Experience: Minimum 15 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in offshore/onshore energy projects.
- Specialised Experience: Experience in construction yards for the installation of wellhead platform equipment such as compressors, chemical injection systems, centrifugal pumps, and flare packages.
- Knowledge of international industry standards, including API, ISO, ASTM, NACE, and SSPC.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Competent in using computer programs for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and email communications.
- Experience with DCC software and commissioning tools like OPERCOM/ICAPS is a plus.
- Language: Fluent in English (Mandarin is an advantage).
