Mechanical Engineering Lead – Static Equipment
Location: Qatar, Onshore
Employment Type: Full-time, 36-month contract
Working Hours: 10 hours/day, 6 days/week, 26 days/month

Role Overview
A leading energy and engineering organisation is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead specialising in static equipment to support onshore project execution. The role involves leading mechanical equipment engineering activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and coordinating with contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical equipment engineering activities during FEED and EPC execution phases

  • Review and approve technical documents, including specifications, calculation notes, and drawings, ensuring alignment with project requirements

  • Manage contractor mechanical engineering resources and ensure timely completion of deliverables

  • Monitor progress against procurement plans and required-on-site schedules

  • Participate in workshops and reviews, including equipment criticality and HAZOP/HAZID studies

  • Support risk assessments, facility design reviews, change management, and project quality assurance initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements in a dynamic, multi-cultural project environment

  • Provide guidance and support to team members and stakeholders while working independently on complex technical tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 4 years in the oil and gas industry

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience offshore and at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role managing contractors, sub-contractors, or vendors

  • Primary expertise in static equipment design and development, with knowledge of equipment packages and rotating equipment

  • Experience with Brownfield and Greenfield projects in onshore and offshore environments

  • Strong knowledge of international design codes and standards, including ASME Sec VIII Div.1 & 2, API, UL, NFPA, or equivalent

  • Previous experience working with EPC contractors, sub-contractors, and equipment manufacturers is advantageous

  • Strong technical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to deliver timely and cost-effective solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds

  • Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Qatar

  • The role may require travel or temporary relocation as part of project execution
