Lead / Senior Engineer, Process Topside
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Office-based with possible site visits)
Contract Type: Long-term project assignment
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead and manage critical engineering deliverables on a significant oil and gas sector project. This role requires independent planning, control, and execution of process engineering activities to meet stringent technical requirements, timelines, and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret project specifications, industry standards, classification society, and regulatory requirements to guide engineering efforts.
- Plan and execute process simulation studies, prepare design calculations, and review datasheets prepared by engineering teams.
- Lead and mentor engineers and senior engineers to develop engineering specifications including drawings and datasheets.
- Review and validate engineering documents in coordination with project management and clients before issuing them for procurement.
- Independently evaluate technical bids for process and utility equipment packages, including cost estimation and vendor assessments.
- Review and verify vendor drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and timely delivery.
- Resolve technical and engineering challenges by analysing data, evaluating options, and implementing solutions.
- Conduct supplier visits and review equipment test results to confirm compliance with specifications; coordinate rectification actions when needed.
- Participate actively in project meetings to address progress, interface, and execution issues, escalating concerns to maintain project timelines.
- Plan and allocate resources effectively to achieve project and departmental objectives.
- Provide technical support and advice during construction and commissioning phases; troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of site issues.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 12 years of relevant process engineering experience in the oil and gas sector (for degree holders), or minimum 11 years for master's degree holders.
- Direct experience working on FPSO/FSO projects is essential.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable industry standards, company specifications, and procedures within process engineering.
Software Skills:
- Proficient with MS Office applications.
- Experience with process simulation tools, flare system hydraulics, piping system transient analysis, fire water system hydraulics, and separation vessel performance modelling.
