An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Landscaping Specialist to join a high-profile infrastructure development programme in the Middle East. This is a senior-level position ideally suited for candidates with a strong background in large-scale landscaping projects, particularly within arid climates.

The successful candidate will play a leading role in overseeing and guiding the delivery of landscaping works across the project lifecycle-from design and technical review to implementation and maintenance planning.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Oversight

  • Lead and manage landscape-related project activities, from design through to implementation.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of in-house landscape professionals, ensuring high-quality performance and project alignment.
  • Monitor the construction phase of landscape works, ensuring compliance with approved designs and specifications.
  • Identify issues early in the process and develop timely, practical solutions.

Technical Review

  • Evaluate design submissions, reports, and specifications from external consultants and contractors.
  • Assess soil studies, vegetation proposals, and sustainable planting strategies tailored for arid environments.
  • Review site analysis data, including soil conditions and drainage, to ensure suitability and technical accuracy.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including designers, architects, and engineers, to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project.
  • Provide input to promote creative and functional landscape solutions that integrate seamlessly with surrounding infrastructure.
  • Offer constructive feedback to support alignment with technical standards and project vision.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure sustainability and environmental responsibility are embedded in landscape designs, including water-efficient systems and native plant usage.
  • Confirm compliance with applicable safety regulations, universal accessibility standards, and environmental impact requirements.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare thorough technical assessments, approvals, and recommendations on submitted landscape documents.
  • Maintain a comprehensive log of design reviews and produce progress updates for stakeholders.

Maintenance Planning

  • Contribute to the development of long-term maintenance strategies for soil health, irrigation systems, and vegetation care.

Compliance and Governance

  • Support adherence to environmental regulations and sustainability benchmarks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Approve technical deviations, variations, and waivers where necessary and justified.
  • Ensure full implementation of applicable environmental and safety protocols.

Team Development

  • Coordinate the activities of a technical services team, supporting their growth and performance.
  • Provide guidance and structured development for emerging engineering professionals.

Candidate Profile

  • Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional certifications or accreditations from recognised national or international bodies are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 15 years of post-graduate professional experience.
  • At least 10 years' hands-on involvement in delivering or overseeing major landscaping works in the GCC region.
  • In-depth understanding of native flora, soil conditions, irrigation systems, and sustainable landscaping techniques suitable for arid environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of landscape design principles and practices, supported by proficiency in design and review tools.
  • Familiarity with regional environmental regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
