Job Title: Instrumentation/Telecom Supervisor
Location: Oman or Qatar (Project-Dependent)
Contract Duration: 01-Sep-2025 to 28-Feb-2027 (Extension Possible)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (Residential Basis)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Instrumentation/Telecom Supervisor to join a major offshore platform construction project. This is a residential role based in Oman or Qatar (project-dependent) and will involve close coordination with engineering, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning teams.
Role Overview:
The Instrumentation/Telecom Supervisor is responsible for overseeing construction, installation, and pre-commissioning activities for instrumentation and telecom systems on a large offshore platform project. This includes ensuring adherence to international standards, health and safety procedures, and project timelines while maintaining effective coordination with contractors, internal stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the safe execution of all site instrumentation and telecom installation work
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure adherence to approved drawings, procedures, and specifications
- Supervise the storage, handling, and installation of materials and equipment according to project requirements
- Lead or support toolbox talks, safety walkdowns, and quality inspections
- Review method statements and drawings, and approve work permits in accordance with project standards
- Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical queries (TQs) and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning teams to ensure smooth handover of systems
- Maintain documentation, including as-built drawings and technical records
- Track progress against schedules, report delays, and propose corrective actions
- Ensure contractor workforce has the required certifications and follows safe work practices
- Collaborate with other disciplines (e.g. Structural, Mechanical, ICSS, HVAC, etc.)
- Ensure tasks are correctly logged in commissioning management systems (e.g. ICAPS or equivalent)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Construction discipline
- Valid certifications in hazardous area compliance (e.g. ATEX or EEHA)
- Minimum 15 years of experience in offshore oil & gas project construction, with at least 3 years in fixed platform topside or jacket installations
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation and telecom systems in complex offshore environments
- Proven leadership, communication, and coordination skills in multicultural project teams
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Fully computer literate and able to use construction management systems
Additional Information:
- This is a residential assignment in a desert climate with extensive on-site presence required
- Flexibility for relocation between Qatar and Oman depending on project phase is essential
- Must be available for international technical missions if required
