Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cost Control Engineer to play a pivotal role in a major offshore renewable energy project. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing cost control activities, ensuring project budgets are adhered to, and supporting efficient financial management. This role will involve working closely with various project stakeholders to ensure cost forecasts, spend status, and other financial data are accurately reported, with full transparency and clear communication across the team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Control Management: Support the Cost Control Lead in all aspects of cost control, including budget administration, invoice processing, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Cost Reporting: Prepare and deliver monthly cost reports, highlighting committed, expended, and forecasted costs, along with variance analysis and earned value progress.
  • Invoice Processing: Oversee the invoicing process, ensuring that all supplier invoices are verified, approved, and processed in line with project procedures.
  • Cost Management Tools: Participate in the implementation of a new Cost Management tool, including data migration, integration, and reporting processes.
  • Budget & Forecasting: Monitor committed and expended costs, ensuring that all variances are effectively communicated and explained to the project team.
  • Contingency & Change Management: Assist in the management of contingency processes, including managing reserves and incorporating approved changes into project budgets.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal departments such as finance, procurement, and project management to ensure the smooth flow of financial data and reporting.
  • Cost Control Procedures: Contribute to the development and implementation of Cost Control procedures to align with industry best practices.
  • Financial KPIs: Track, analyse, and report on financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and communicate progress to the project team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback to relevant teams to ensure continuous improvement in cost control practices.
  • Ethical Standards: Adhere to company ethics, HSSE rules, and the Code of Conduct policy in all aspects of the role.

This position supports a growing and ambitious offshore renewable energy project, designed to contribute to global sustainability goals. As part of a multinational project, the Cost Control Engineer will be an integral part of a cross-functional team, ensuring that financial processes are optimised and milestones are met on time and within budget.

  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel between Paris and other locations may be required, particularly within Europe.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Offshore Project Cost Control: Strong background in offshore project cost control, including expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and change management.
  • Project Management Knowledge: Experience managing and reporting on project development, with exposure to various partners and stakeholders.
  • Cost Control Tools: Proficiency with Cost Control software (e.g., MBC, EcoSys, Excel, PowerBI), and familiarity with industry-specific cost management tools.
  • Cost Engineering Knowledge: Sound understanding of Cost and Work Breakdown Structures (CWBS), Earned Value Systems (EVS), and contingency management practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong ability to work effectively with international teams, finance departments, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Independent Working: Proactive in taking ownership of tasks, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Information

  • Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Additional language skills are a plus.
  • Work Environment: This position is based in Paris, with occasional travel to various project sites across Europe.
