Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Coordinator to oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for a major offshore oil & gas project. This role requires a proactive individual with strong multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge, leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of commissioning in complex marine environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the site representative on marine vessels and offshore facilities during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
- Prepare and manage work permits as the Permit Applicant, ensuring compliance with internal PTW (Permit to Work) systems.
- Attend daily planning meetings with operations teams to report on progress, constraints, and safety matters.
- Liaise with HSEQ personnel to ensure all commissioning activities comply with approved procedures and safety standards.
- Coordinate personnel and material movements with contractors to support project schedules.
- Review, comment on, and approve commissioning procedures, method statements, schedules, and job safety analyses (JSAs).
- Monitor and inspect works to ensure alignment with AFC (Approved for Construction) drawings and commissioning plans.
- Identify and manage punch list items prior to and during pre-commissioning activities.
- Support punch closure in coordination with construction teams and witness commissioning activities.
- Provide detailed daily progress reports to the project and commissioning leadership.
- Organise and coordinate site acceptance tests, loop checks, and vendor support activities in line with the commissioning schedule.
- Develop and execute detailed commissioning plans, checklists, handover documents, and readiness certificates.
- Coordinate the involvement of vendors for specialised commissioning tasks and ensure on-the-job training is delivered for critical systems.
- Collaborate with operations representatives to ensure systems are ready for handover and startup.
- Support development of documentation including standards, guidelines, and corporate specifications.
- Encourage and support the development of local talent through mentoring and structured on-site training.
Requirements:
- Higher National Diploma (HND), Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant Engineering discipline from a recognised institution.
- 10-12 years of commissioning experience in oil & gas construction and installation projects, with both FEED and EPIC phase exposure.
- Strong knowledge of construction and commissioning industry best practices, international standards, and safety systems.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and approving contractor work, schedules, procedures, and quality documentation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills with multicultural teams.
- Proficient in technical reviews, risk identification, problem-solving, and reporting.
- Comfortable working in high-pressure offshore environments.
- Strong IT and analytical skills.
