Our client are seeking a skilled professional to their team in Portugal, specializing in renewable energy projects, particularly offshore wind. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in renewable energy development, with a preference for offshore wind expertise and a solid background in stakeholder engagement. Experience in Portugal's renewable energy sector, whether gained domestically or abroad, is highly valued. This role will report to both the Country Manager for Portugal and the Project Lead, with the opportunity to oversee additional resources as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in shaping the companies strategy for the Portuguese market by spotting new business opportunities and advancing projects from the initial phase to full readiness. This includes contributing to the preparation of bids to secure offshore wind development rights.
- Lead the creation and execution of permitting and consenting strategies, ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met. You will guide the team through obtaining necessary permits, consents, and agreements with local authorities and stakeholders.
- Work with internal teams to enhance local content and contribute to the development of the Portuguese renewable energy industry by optimizing supply chain processes.
- Oversee the design and implementation of an environmental plan that meets Portuguese marine standards and emphasizes sustainability and protection. Coordinate efforts with both internal teams and external partners.
- Collaborate with governmental bodies, regulators, partners, and industry organizations, providing expertise in planning, permitting, and responses to consultations.
- Support the procurement of contracts related to permitting, supply chain, and project development. Manage budgets, timelines, and risk assessments while coordinating with partners and contractors.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering, Science, Finance, Law, or Business Administration (Master's or Bachelor's).
- Relevant professional experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong preference for offshore wind or experience in Portuguese renewable energy projects.
- Detailed knowledge of Portuguese regulations, permitting procedures, and the requirements for renewable energy projects, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
- A track record of successfully managing complex projects with various stakeholders, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Expertise in handling stakeholder relationships and addressing challenges in the Portuguese renewable energy market.
- Experience working in multicultural, cross-border teams, with an emphasis on collaboration and inclusivity.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to aid decision-making.
- Fluent in Portuguese, with advanced proficiency in English. Other language skills are an asset. Willing to travel throughout Portugal.
