A major energy operator in Qatar is seeking a highly skilled Assets & Materials Accountant to join its Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with Big 4 experience and strong IFRS expertise to work in a technically complex and internationally collaborative environment.

This role is responsible for asset and inventory accounting, financial reporting, and technical advisory across a wide range of capital and operational activities. You will support compliance, control, and reporting requirements related to both materials and property, plant & equipment (PPE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities across assigned entities and cost centres

  • Prepare statutory financial disclosures for PPE in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulations

  • Provide variance analysis and project-specific capex reporting

  • Post required entries for asset depreciation (book and tax), materials adjustments, and deferred tax

  • Review project spend to determine appropriate accounting treatment (capex vs. opex)

  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and resolve accounting discrepancies

  • Monitor and maintain internal orders for cost capture and liaise with stakeholders on project set-up

  • Manage asset disposals, de-recognition processes, and asset verification activities

  • Provide ad hoc reporting, analysis, and respond to audit requirements (internal and external)

  • Support ongoing improvement initiatives related to asset and material accounting practices

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures

Candidate Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related commercial field

  • Professional Certification: Recognised qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CA, CFA, or CMA

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 6–8 years in a finance or accounting role within the Oil & Gas sector

    • Strong technical accounting experience in accordance with IFRS

    • Background with a Big 4 audit firm is essential

  • Technical Skills:

    • Experience working with SAP (particularly Asset and Materials Management modules)

    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
